Meet Keira Lane. She is from West Texas and enjoys reading, writing, photography, painting, crafts, video games, and Moscato. A writer, one of the founders of Autimagination Media, and a mother of 5— Lane is certainly is a busybody! Her debut novel, From a Heart Shaped Box includes 9 illustrated short stories about love, loss, and sacrifice.
Lane says that her love of reading and writing came from her grandmother when she introduced her to the works of Jane Austen. However, it wasn’t until the pandemic in 2020 that Lane started to take her writing seriously. "I would be lying if I didn't say the pandemic was what inspired me. I've always dabbed in writing growing up but the abrupt halt of life as we knew it helped perpetuate the need to find a creative outlet." Keira states. "One can only clean so much house, play so many video games, and read so many books before you begin to crave a break from the monotony. I took up oil painting, though I'm not very good at it, and writing.”
Her resilience and determination in the craft has made Lane quickly rise as a prominent, new writer on Twitter. She has hosted panels at conventions, published a book, and created www.autimagination.org— a place where to share interviews, book reviews, writing and reading, product reviews, and everything in between… all in two years!
When asked about her writing style, Lane states, “As I adore the vividly eloquent words of female literary figures in the 1700s through early 1900s, my styling tends to lean that way. It is relatively a niche styling but I can't help myself. The prose of that era is a poetic art form that sings to my soul.”.
On the other hand, she describes her work process as chaotic and messy. "I'm an intuitive pantser while also being a highly sensitive (empath) person for the most part so I genuinely have to feel the emotions and experiences of my characters. This often is energy draining and so I can't write for long periods of time." Lane states. "If I do, it takes a toll and I'm emotionally too exhausted to write for several days on end.".

Some may find it cheesy, but Lane says that her kids are her biggest role models when it comes to writing. "Each one of them has fought and overcome various struggles in their lives and all have done it gracefully." Lane explains. "From late diagnosed ASD/OCD/GAD/ADHD, severe medical issues resulting in constant removal of tumors, severe issues with ears requiring multiple surgeries, early diagnosed ASD but more severe on the spectrum with severe speech delay, to a young girl defying the odds/fighting for herself/leaving an abusive home environment, they have all taught me determination, dedication, strength, courage, and how to push forward through the hard that life throws at us.".

For Lane, family is certainly an important aspect. Almost everything she does revolves around them and that includes her writing. While she would like to finish her many novel projects, her long-term goals for writing is to build up her brand and use the monetization to support her children and send them to college.
Of course, her family supports her just as much as she supports them. Lane writes, “…My husband is working hard and nailing the game of life and family. He is so very supportive of my endeavors and understands that what I am doing is a marathon, not a sprint, so the returns of the work put in right now won't be seen til (sic) years from now. I really don't want to let him down or the people who've invested pieces of themselves into me. I want to make them proud.”.
